Visiting Copenhagen
Copenhagen is always worth visiting, even if you don’t have much time. If you are on a business trip, you might still find a little time to explore the city – be it that restaurant you’ve been recommended or just jogging around the lakes. Some people come to visit the Opera House and have planned their stay based on the Opera House program. The possibilities are countless. What’s important is that you prioritise whatever interests you the most. The classic tourist attractions might be at the bottom of your own list of things to see, just do what you feel like doing.

The city is an open book and you can start on any page - a new story is written every time. We have composed a list of attractions and experiences. Naturally, there are many more possibilities but here is what we personally recommend.

Parks:
The King’s Gardens
Kongens have (the King’s Gardens) is a place to soak up the sun and enjoy the seasonal gardening creations. The park itself is an interesting place, dating back to 1600, around the time when Rosenborg Palace was built. The park is the green heart of the city and its café is a gorgeous place to sit and relax at on a hot summer day.

Ørstedparken
A cosy little park, Ørstedparken is as central as can be - close to City Hall Square and Nørreport. Visit it for a stroll or a jog – or even a Caffe Latte.

Art:
Louisiana
You don’t want to miss Louisiana, the Museum of Modern Art, even if it’s a bit outside of the city centre. A visit to Louisiana is always a remarkable experience – even if you’re not that into art. Its surroundings are so pretty, it’s almost worth going up there just to see them. Any Copenhagen train station will sell a combination train and museum ticket for your convenience.

The National Gallery of Art
The museum hosts centuries’ worth of art collections, but also lectures, concerts, guided tours and special exhibitions. Most of all, the State Art museum is big. Wear comfortable shoes if you wish to visit it all. Our recommendation is to select a specific area and enjoy that nice and slowly.

Glyptoteket
A majestic winter garden lies at the heart of the Carl Jacobsen Sculpture Centre, a real treat in the Danish winter when green plants are a rare sight. The museum houses Northern Europe’s largest collection of antique art – rare classical sculptures, Egyptian mummies and exhibitions. An extremely interesting place located just behind Tivoli.

Fun things to do:
Tivoli
You never get too old to visit Tivoli. The Park changes at evry season to frame the season’s events in the most beautiful fashion. Whatever you’re looking for, Tivoli is the place: old and new attractions, classical music, the popular Friday Rock concerts, pantomime, wonderful restaurants and plenty more. Or you can just stroll around and enjoy the atmosphere of the illuminated Tivoli at night.

Boat Tours
There are many boat tours for you to choose from. The cheapest way to do this is to take the waterbuses but then again you’ll be on your own without a tour guide. You can hop on and off most boats in the tour circuit as you please. You might want to hop off and see the Opera House, then proceed to café Halvandet, to relax in a deckchair and enjoy the view of Amalienborg. Other popular harbour stops are Nyhavn or the new library building called “the black Diamond”.

The Black Diamond
A noteworthy architectural work – the Black Diamond is an extension to the Royal Library building – definitely worth a visit even if you’re not planning to read any books. There is a café, a restaurant and different kinds of exhibitions. If you then go on to see the old library building, take the time to enjoy the peace and quiet of Bibliotekshaven.

Christiania
The nearest subway station is Christianshavn, just a stroll away. Guided tours are available but it’s fun to explore Christiania on your own as well. The free town extends over the old defence system area and offers a variety of interesting buildings, stalls, cafés and places to hang out and enjoy some good music. Christiania is an alternative part of town born of the Hippie culture. Combine it with a visit to Christianshavn, the very heart of historical Copenhagen.

Amalienborg
Amalienborg is the residence of the Danish Royal Family and an impressive Rococo building. See the Changing of the Guards ceremony at Amalienborg and stand in the middle of the Square to catch a glimpse of the famous Diagonal, over the fountain at Amaliehaven to the Opera House.

Nørrebro
Crossing Dronning Louise’s bridge you reach Nørrebro. Check out the numerous shops with specialities from around the world, cafées, clubs, as well as the small design and fashion shops along the alleys. Along Ravnsborggade is the city’s greatest collection of second hand and antique shops.

Wallmans
At Wallmans Salonger in the old Circus Building you’re sure to have a good time. The Big Stage hosts dinnershows and is an impressive sight in itself. The show is dazzling and professionally done – and then you can dine and relax at the nightclub and bar. The nightclub opens at 11:00 pm and targets an adult audience. Tickets can be reserved when booking hotel or bought in our recptions.

Jogging:
By the Lakes
How many lakes can you jog around? One, two, three? If you take them all in one go it’s a 6 km. jog. The jogging circuits can be very, very popular – choose to jog early in the morning or in the evening to experience them in peace and quiet.

The Harbour Route
Go to Østerport station and proceed towards Langelinie (10 min.), to then jog all the way to Sankt Annæ Plads (close to Nyhavn). A picturesque route near the Harbour.

Beaches:
Amager Strandpark (the beach park)
A number of beautiful beaches have flourished around Copenhagen in recent years – Amager Strandpark being the largest and the most recent one. The sandy beach stretches for kilometres and never gets too crowded. The water is nice and deep enough for swimming but still safe for the little ones. Take the subway to Lergravsparken and there you are.

Islands Brygge
An amazing place for a warm summer afternoon. The city centre is just around the corner. If you have access to a bicyle, it’s easy to get there and spend a couple of fun-filled hours there. Many locals enjoy a BBQ on the beach in the evenings. Follow the waterfront and cross the pedestrian bridge overlooking the swimming area or go from Tivoli Gardens to "Langebro", one of the Copenhagen harbour bridges.

DGI-byen
What if you feel like swimming and the sun and temperature just aren’t on your side? Go to DGI-byen. The round swimming pool just makes you want to keep swimming to infinity. An extended ticket grants you admission to saunas and bath-facilities of different kinds.
