Brand New Wing and 40 Rooms
The new wing at Hotel Kong Arthur is now open and with it our new room concept. Drawing from our traditional style of the old Kong Arthur, we have created a modern style for the new rooms that still blends perfectly with rest of the hotel.

For a year, we have worked on remodeling the hotel and the pace of change has been fast and quite astounding. Those who visited Hotel Kong Arthur last Summer and saw the new reception and lobby area can now look forward to experiencing the new rooms as well.

We’ve put our heart into shaping the new rooms based on offering our guests the best possible experience outside of their own bedroom and home. We wanted to make sure this experience included Copenhagen’s most comfortable mattresses, plump pillows and fluffy duvets. On top of this, we wanted to create a work area that was more than your average “desk-in-the-corner”, as well as leaving room for a touch of romance, with chairs that combine into a sofa. For those who enjoy reading, we’ve put books and magazines in every room. We’ve even thought of those tired, world-travelling backs and made sure our new furniture is as comfortable as possible. We’ve also made sure the experience includes availability of those often forgotten basic supplies, which you’ll find in our minishop, and hotel art that’s not necessarily dull as it so often is the case. We’ve thought of relax and coziness, of that good film you might want to watch while staying with us, of the fact that you might need to keep your laptop safe, rather than your jewelry. We’ve remembered your time-management needs and thought of ways in which we can help. We’ve thought of your ironing, of leaving enough space under the beds for you to store your suitcase, and much, much more.

The new rooms come in all categories, though all are design with this total comfort experience in mind. Over the next year, all of our rooms (except the King and Queens rooms, already built according to the same concept) will undergo the same renewal process. Come and experience them for yourself, and don’t forget to let us know what you think. Anything we’ve overlooked or not thought of, let us know…we’re there to make you feel at home.

SPA EQUALS HEALTH THROUGH WATER - SANUS PER AQUA
The Spa concept is as old as time. The Romans are known for their advanced bath culture, where bathing wasn’t just a gateway to good health, but also relaxation and enjoyment. The Roman bath establishments in Turkey developed into the famous Hamams, with their own bath and massage traditions. A number of cultures include advanced bathing rituals and modern Spas bring together the best of these traditions from different cultures.

A Spa should offer a total wellness experience and contribute to building a lifestyle where body and mind are in perfect harmony. A Spa experience should awaken your senses, focus on the balance of body and mind, and ultimately teach you to enjoy the here and now.

Our own Kong Arthur Spa experience includes the possibility of creating a personalised treatment combining exercise, face and body treatments, mental relaxation and a healthy diet. The treatments and Spa can be booked from the beginning of November 2007.

A STAR PHOTOGRAPHER aT LOUISIANA
For more than fifty years Richard Avedon was a major name in the fashion industry. He is still considered one the brightest stars in the genre, which he changed radically.

When he startet out, the style of fashion photography was stagnant and the models were expressionless, but with Avedon the style changed basically. The models were photographed in motion and 'on location' at unconventional places.

Richard Avedon was also an innovator of modern portrait photography along with another great photographer, Irving Penn. Avedons portraits are dramatic and psychological. Simple arrangements with a minimalistic white background, which enhance the expression. He has photographed poor, unknown Americans as well as icons like Audrey Hepburn, Charlie Chaplin, Marilyn Monroe, The Beatles and Björk.
