Climate on the Agenda
Throughout the year Brøchner Hotels has participated in several events at the Bella Center and of course CEO Kirsten Brøchner drove there in one of the hotels’ electric cars. The Bella Center has not yet installed charging stations but was kind enough to borrow an extension lead. Prime Minister Lars Løkke checked the car on his way to the meeting.
This December, COP15 United Nations Climate Change Conference will put it's mark on Copenhagen. All the hotels of the city have been fully booked for a half year and by now, most agreements are finalised. The organizers expect Copenhagen to be increased by more than 15,000 persons (plus all the unofficial guests) from the 7th to 18th of December. All routes to Copenhagen will be congested over the period, eg. Copenhagen Airports CPH expect approx. 10 special flights per hour, which is what the airport can handle at a maximum.
Plenty of cultural events
In connection with COP15, numerous of cultural events are planned. Unfortunately, it is virtually impossible for anyone other than the meeting participants to get a hotel room in Copenhagen. But some of the exhibitions run over a longer period of time, and is also open late December and January). So - if you are planning to visit Copenhagen, you will have a chance then. Hotel guests offsets carbon emission
All who stay at a Brøchner hotel during COP15, will help to spare the atmosphere for CO2. During COP15 hotel stays are offered only together with a CO2 quota.
Purchasing and Destroying CO2 quotas has the environmental benefit of decreasing the total amount of carbon dioxide emitted, while increasing the prices for each quota. When the quota prices rise, it improves the incentives for the EU energy suppliers to come up with greener production methods and swap to cleaner sources of energy.
